沪昆高速危化品储罐车侧翻 10余吨浓硫酸泄露

1月22日,在沪昆高速江西省东乡前往进贤路段,一辆危化品储罐车侧翻,罐内泄出的十余吨浓硫酸,沿排水沟流出近200米。交警部门及时赴场,将驾驶人员送往医院;随后,消防中队派出2辆水罐消防车,1辆抢险救援消防车前往处置,用沙土堵截泄露硫酸;最后,环保、安监等多个部门人员到场,用石灰对受污染地进行掩埋处理。

On Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, A Hazardous chemicals Storage Tanker Turn on Its Side. More than 10 Tons of Concentrated Sulphuric Acid Leaked.

On January 22nd, on the Dongxiang-Jinxian section of Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, a hazardous chemicals storage tanker turned on its side. More than 10 tons of concentrated sulphuric acid leaked from the oil tanks, flowing along drainage ditch for nearly 200 meters. The traffic police arrived on the site timely, sending the driver into the hospital. Later, fire brigade dispatched 2 fire extinguishing water tanker, and 1 emergency rescue fire engine, they used sand and soils to block the sulphuric acid. Finally, staffs from environmental protection departments, safety supervise departments arrived, using lime to bury the contaminated areas.

关注女工职业病:劳动密集型产业中的化学污染

2018年12月23日,据《工人日报》报道,目前中国女工职业病主要包括尘肺病(棉尘病、石棉肺)、职业性眼病、职业性皮肤病、慢性职业中毒(苯、汞中毒)、急性职业中毒、传染病等。有数据显示,女工职业病病例涉及20多个行业,主要集中在轻纺、化工、机械、建筑和医药等中小企业。劳动者缺乏保护意识和病理知识、工厂缺乏劳动保障、工作环境条件差等因素,均加大了患病风险。

Concerning About Female Workers’ Occupational Diseases: Chemical Pollution in Labor Intensive Industry.

On December 23rd, 2018, according to Workers’ Daily , currently, occupational diseases of female workers mainly include pneumoconiosis (byssinosis, asbestosis) , occupational eye disease, occupational skin disease,chronic occupational poisoning(Benzene Poisoning, mercury poisoning), acute occupational intoxication, infectious disease, etc. As data suggests, female workers’ occupational diseases relate to 20 small and medium industries, mainly in small and medium enterprises from textiles, chemical industries, mechanical engineering, architecture and medicine industries. The factors which increase the risk of diseases are that the workers’ lack of protection awareness and medical knowledge, shortage of labor security in industries and poor working conditions, etc.

北交大实验室爆炸起火事件调查结果公布 化学实验安全需加强

2018年12月26日,据《北京日报》报道 ,北京交通大学市政与环境工程实验室发生爆炸燃烧,事故造成三名参与实验的研究生死亡。

经查,该起事故直接原因为:在使用搅拌机对镁粉和磷酸搅拌、反应过程中,料斗内产生的氢气被搅拌机转轴处金属摩擦、碰撞产生的火花点燃爆炸,继而引发镁粉粉尘云爆炸,爆炸引起周边镁粉和其他可燃物燃烧,造成现场3名学生烧死。事故调查组同时认定,北京交通大学有关人员违规开展试验、冒险作业;违规购买、违法储存危险化学品;对实验室和科研项目安全管理不到位。

在血的教训面前,我们需要对化学品安全有更深刻的认识。美国化学会(ACS)的“如何安全运营化学实验室”网课,可为教育工作者、化工业和研究生提供相关的信息。

Investigation Results: Explosion and Fire on a Laboratory of Beijing Jiaotong University. Chemical Experiment Safety Shall be Emphasised.  

On last December, 26th, according to Beijing Daily, an explosion happened in the Municipal and Environmental Engineering Lab, Beijing Jiaotong University. This accident caused the death of 3 participant graduates.

According to the investigation, the direct cause of the accident is that, the hydrogen produced through the mixture of megnesium powder and orthophosphoric acid, was lighted up by the sparks of metal frictions and collision, resulting in the first explosion and further explosion of magnesium powder cloud dust. Then, the explosion made the surrounding megnesium powder and other flammable substances burn up. As a result, three graduates were burned to death. Investigation group suggests that, staffs of Beijing Jiaotong University bought and stored hazardous chemicals illegally, as well as took adventure to do the experiments, which shows their irresponsibility for security management of labs and research projects.

We should learn more about chemical safety issues from this miserable experience. An online course called ‘How to Run a Chemical Lab Safely’ launched by American Chemical Society (ACS), can provide educators, chemical industries, and graduates with related information.

呼吁春节不吃鸟:野生雀鸟体内毒素高

不少人想在过年吃点“新鲜的”,选择把筷子伸向野生动物。然而,随着环境污染的全球化和食物链的累积作用,很多野生动物早就受到环境污染损害。根据中国科学院南海海洋研究所研究,雀鸟样品中含有高浓度的多氯联苯(PCBs)、多溴联苯醚(PBDEs)、二氯联苯三氯乙烷(DDT)等。电子垃圾和其回收场所排放的难以降解的持久性有机污染物,亦是威胁鸟类的主要原因之一。

Do Not Eat Birds on Spring Festival: There are Lots of Toxins in Wild Birds’ Bodies.

Many people want to try something new on dinner tables during the Spring Festival, so they target wildlife as their food. However, many wildlife have been affected by environmental pollution, as environmental pollution getting globalized and the food chain accumulating substances.. According to the research of South Ocean Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, there are high concentrations of chemical substances like PCBs, PBDEs, DDT in birds’ samples. Another main reason that threaten birds is because of the POPs released from electronic waste and its recycling sites.

选姨妈巾不仅要小心荧光剂,还要防范增塑剂

2014年4月24日,《消费者报道》指出,乐而雅、护舒宝、苏菲、娇爽、ABC、益母草、安尔乐、高洁丝、舒珊、爱护你这十大国内卫生巾品牌产品,均检出可迁移性荧光增白剂,含量从54.9 mg/kg-386 mg/kg不等。除了报道中常见的有害物质荧光剂和甲醛,2019年1月,科学家发现,卫生巾和纸尿裤中还含有增塑剂邻苯二甲酸酯,该物质可能会扰乱月经周期。

Beware of Both Fluorescer and Plasticiser on Sanitary Towels

On April 24th, 2014, China Consumer Reports pointed that, 10 most famous sanitary towel products, i.e. Le’erya, Hushubao, Sufei, Jiaoshuang, ABC, Yimucao, An’erle,Gaojiesi, Shushan, Aihuni, have been tested  and found to be containing transferable fluorescent whitening agent. the amounts of themare between 54.9 mg/kg-386 mg/kg. Apart from fluorescer and formaldehyde, , scientists discovered  the plasticiser (phthalate) contained in sanitary towels and paper diapers on January, 2019. The substance may disturb menstrual cycle.

用生命开庭:广州中院新审判楼内甲醛超标

2019年1月1日起,广州中级人民法院正式启用位于启德路的新审判业务大楼。然而,在大楼内工作不久,法官、检察官等工作人员纷纷出现流泪、咽喉不适、头晕等症状。多位法官用手持检测仪检测室内空气,结果显示甲醛、TVOC超标。专家解释说,原该大楼在室内空气污染治理方面,采用的是来自日本的光触媒技术。但是该技术并不适合中国复杂的室内环境,难以分解装修产生的甲醛、苯系物等污染物。

Risking Life to Hold a Court: Formaldehyde Standard Exceeded in the New Jurisdiction Building of Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court

Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court started using its new trial building on Qide Road from January 1st, 2009. However,  staff like the judges, prosecutor who are working there , soon  had symptoms like streaming eyes, throat irritation, and dizziness, etc. Many judges used handheld detector to monitor the indoor air quality, and they found that formaldehyde and TVOC have exceeded the normal standard. Experts suggest that, in this building, Japanese photocatalyst technique has beenadopted in indoor air quality management. Whereas, the technique is not appropriate for complex indoor environment in China, so It’s hard to decompose formaldehyde and benzene produced by decoration.

小票上的化学物质正在伤害你

大多数银行卡、超市和饭店收据、外卖单、快递POS机打印的单据等都会选择使用含有双酚A(BPA)的热敏纸进行无墨打印。除此之外,BPA经常出现在牙科密封剂、食品包装中。然而,BPA作用类似于雌激素和甲状腺激素,长期使用会干扰人体内分泌。

对此,现在许多制造商选择使用更“安全”的物质BPS来取代BPA,但BPS其实也不安全,它同样可充当内分泌干扰物。

Chemical Substances on the Receipt are Harming You.

Nowadays, most bank cards, supermarkets’ and restaurants’ receipts, takeaway receipts, receipts printed by fast delivery POS, etc. are using thermal paper contained BPA for printing. Besides, BPA is often used in dental sealant and food packaging. However, BPA functions as oestrogen and thyroid hormone, which can lead to endocrine dyscrasia for long time use.

Withal, many producers choose a ‘securer’ substance, i.e. BPS to replace BPA. However, BPS is actually not safe, because it also acts as an endocrine disrupt chemical.

CDC研究显示:儿童刷牙时过度使用牙膏,可能造成氟斑牙

2019年2月3日,美国疾病控制与预防中心(CDC)调查显示,在被调查的5000多名儿童中,40%的3至6周岁儿童在刷牙中使用牙膏过量,超出牙医推荐范围。市面上大多数牙膏都含有氟化物,在儿童长牙阶段,太多氟化物会导致牙齿变黄、长斑,这种现象又称作氟斑牙。CDC和美国牙科联盟认为,家长为儿童挤牙膏时,剂量不宜超过豌豆大小。

含有害化学物质的口红不利于接吻

2月14日情人节,加拿大环境监管组织生态废弃物联盟(EcoWaste)提醒公众,不要使用含有害化学品的掺假或冒牌口红。最近,依据《东盟化妆品指令》规定的化学品浓度,EcoWaste检测了11家口红品牌的115件样本,发现铅、汞、砷、镉超标的样本数量分别为61件、32件、53件、10件。过频使用含有毒化学品的口红,将损伤大脑和中枢神经系统、影响荷尔蒙分泌和月经规律,甚至造成不孕不育,并诱发癌症。

墨西哥炼油厂附近管道爆炸,死者逾70人

当地时间1月18日,墨西哥伊达尔州一家炼油厂附近发生管道爆炸,造成至少73人死亡,76人受伤。炼油厂隶属墨西哥国营石油公司——PEMEX。PEMEX声称,石油管道发生泄露后,当地居民聚集在附近偷油,汽油在遇到点火源后引发爆炸。爆炸发生前近两周内,墨西哥多个州市的加油站,处于石油短缺的状态。

法国婴儿纸尿裤有毒物质超标,相关部门将采取防控措施

近日,在法国销售的婴幼儿一次性尿布中,检测出超标化学品,可能对宝宝健康造成危害。1月23日,法国国家食品环境及劳动安全管理局(ANSES)要求制造商和销售商尽快消除尿布产品的健康风险。据了解,2016年至2018年,三年间,国家消费者协会(INC)在相关产品中检测并揭露出多种超标化学物质,包括杀虫剂、二噁因、呋喃、多氯联苯、甲醇、可致敏香料、多环芳烃等。ANSES呼吁,要保证产品原料质量,并加强法国和欧盟层面的立法,以确保尿布的安全生产。

1.7万公吨洋垃圾使马来西亚小镇“窒息”

2017年,中国禁止进口外国的塑料垃圾后,来自美国、日本、英国的废弃塑料被运往新的目的地——马来西亚。据统计,在瓜拉冷月县,有33座非法回收工厂。起初,当地居民只能闻到回收厂的异味,但是到了2018年8月以后,居民身体产生严重不适,出现咳嗽、咳血、起疹子等症状。

目前,马来西亚政府已关闭33座非法回收厂,但1.7万公吨塑料垃圾依旧没有被处理,堆积成了垃圾山。

企鹅毛衣是时尚还是无奈之举

20世纪90年代末到21世纪初,在菲利普岛(位于澳大利亚,又称企鹅岛)附近曾发生一系列石油泄漏事件,被油污污染的企鹅大部分死于寒冷和饥饿。企鹅基金会发起了为企鹅织毛衣的活动,毛衣会,在一定程度上减少企鹅们的石油摄入量,表面上也让企鹅看起来更憨态可掬。但是衣服本身会给企鹅带来压力,而且石油给企鹅带来的伤害还在持续。,因此让企鹅穿上毛衣,更多是无奈之举。

根据国际油船所有者污染联盟(ITOPF)的数据统计,2018年至少发生了10000起石油泄漏事件,总量涉及11.6万吨。暴露在泄漏或废弃石油中的鸟类可能会受到严重伤害。

农药致昆虫数量骤减,严重危害生态平衡 

2月10日,据英国《卫报》报道,全球科学评论称,世界范围内,超过40%的昆虫物种数量在减少,而1/3的昆虫种类濒临灭绝,灭绝速度是哺乳动物、鸟雀、爬行动物的8倍。这一现象严重威胁着大自然的生态平衡。密集的农业活动是昆虫骤减的罪魁祸首。农业中广泛使用的杀虫剂,内含的类尼古丁、芬普尼等物质,直接杀死了农田中的幼虫。同时,专家表明,相比工业规模的密集农业,有机农业使用的杀虫剂较少,对昆虫的危害也相对更少。

研究发现:消防员工作服中含有氟化学物

美国圣母大学一项研究发现,消防服的夹克、裤子、背心中含有多种全氟和多氟烷基碳化物(PFAs)。这些化学物质与前列腺、肾、睾丸癌症、甲状腺疾病、极低出生体重等症状密切相关。PFAs难以降解,有很长的半衰期,如果要将纺织品中的PFAs转换成无害物质,需要攻克一系列难关。
